An ecosystem approach to water management focuses on several field
level interventions: protecting upper catchments (e.g. reforestation,
good land husbandry, soil erosion control), pollution control (e.g.
point source reduction, non-point source incentives, groundwater protection)
and environmental flows (e.g. through reducing abstractions, special
releases from reservoirs, river restoration).
